VJ Rabiolo is a baby boomer, an art school dropout, a privileged white male, a social misfit, and a successful artist. His artwork can be viewed on his poorly kept-up website, JimRabioloArt.com, and disorganized social media, @JimRabioloArt.
StatementI am always trying new ways to express old ideas and sometimes discovering new ideas along those ways. The process is always the same; imagine, intend, believe, create, share.
As an old middle-class white male who has struggled through the range of social, political, and sexual, changes during my time, my feelings find an authentic outlet through my artworks. These prints and objects reveal parts of my inner world conveying my emotions about those changes in every artwork.
When I'm feeling joyful and optimistic, I gravitate towards vibrant and exuberant colors, embellishing the subject’s lively beauty and sharing my happiness with you.~
On days when I'm in a gentle and sensitive state, I focus on delicate details of surface textures and color, allowing their beauty to speak for themselves and reflecting my sense of wonder in the process. ~
Then there are moments when my emotions take a somber and melancholic turn from the failed expectations, and during those times I am drawn to portray the subject in a way that conveys a profound sense of introspection and contemplation. ~
Grieve, Celebrate, Wonder.
